Richard Strauss was born in Munich on June 11, 1864 and was a German composer during the late Romanic and early modern eras. Richard's father was a principal French-horn player player of the Munich Court Orchestra. His mother came from a brewing family of Phorr.He had several works given in Munich, including a symphony,when he was 17, and the next year a wind serenade in Dresden and a violin concerto in Vienna. During his education, he spent his time playing music. His father Franz Strauss was one of the foremost Horn players of the day, and Richard's talents were also recognized. Richard met alot of the amazing musicians of the day, including Hans Von Bulow and he invited Strauss to that work's first performance in Munich in November 1884. After this successful performance, Hans Von Bulow offered Richard the post of assistant conductor at Meinigen. At Meinigen, he met composer, Alexander Ritter. Ritter urged Richard to leave classical forms and to express his musical ideas in the medium of the tone,poem as Franz Liszt had done. Eventually Richard Strauss died at the age of 85 on September 8, 1945 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
